Bobbi Olsen

As a self-made high conflict divorce and family lawyer, Bobbi understands the fear of losing what you've worked hard for. Her expertise spans from negotiated settlements to highly contentious litigation, with a successful track record in extensive trial and appeal work. She has conducted numerous complex trials, motions, Hague Applications, and Charter arguments, demonstrating her commitment to her clients and their cases. She believes strongly that clients prefer to speak to a relatable, genuine person who wants to make their lives safer and easier.

Bobbi's dedication to her field is evident in her academic pursuits. Having grown up in a small logging and mining town, she was career-driven from the start, delving into advanced family law issues while completing her Masters in Law in Family Law at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she also received her initial law degree. Her inclusion with 60 impressive negotiators worldwide led her to Boston, to earn a Master Class of Negotiation certification from Harvard Law School Executive Education in 2017. For someone with a family history of foster care and residential school, Bobbi is well aware how fortunate she has been to have these opportunities, and deeply empathizes with her clients' fears of losing everything they have built.

Her professional contributions extend beyond her practice. Bobbi is on the roster of Hague lawyers for the Central Authority for Ontario and was a member of the Family Law Executive of the Ontario Bar Association, sitting on Family Law Standing Committees related to Court Uniformity, Mentorship, and the Awards Committee. She volunteered earlier in her career as a regular guest lecturer at Humber College and its joint program with the University of Guelph, sharing her knowledge on a range of family law issues and specific advocacy and litigation skills.

Bobbi's dedication to her field has been recognized with several awards, including the Corporate Intl Global Awards Family Law Disputes Law Firm of the Year in Canada in 2019, the International Advisory Experts Award for Contentious Litigation for Canada for 2018, and Acquisition International’s award for Leading Family Law Adviser of the Year for Canada.

In her personal life, Bobbi is a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces reserves in both Ontario and Alberta. She is an avid runner, having travelled to Paris for the Harmonie Mutuelle Semi-Marathon de Paris 2020, currently training for 2024. She has had the opportunity to delve into her yoga practice in Bali on two occasions, climb live volcano Mt. Batur, and to lend a hand at Asia's first welfare certified elephant sanctuary. She enjoys sailing and racing C&C sailboats, and may never live down her team's narrow margin third place standing in the club's Little Canada Cup. Bobbi grew up fishing and hunting, although the latter perhaps not quite as often as she slightly exaggerated for her own entertainment in her early days of adjusting to some of the more serious, formal social occasions inherent in practicing downtown Toronto.

She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyers’ Association, and the Advocates’ Society. She is also a member of Couchiching First Nation.
