Opeyemi Afeni

Prior to moving to Canada in 2020, Opeyemi practiced law in Nigeria for 7 years having been called to the Nigerian bar in 2012. He started practice as an associate of Andy Igboekwe, SAN in 2013 and left at the end of 2015 to start a law firm, R-Law Strauss. His practice cuts across civil and criminal law practice.

He co-handled many criminal appeals and conducted civil trials at the High Courts in Nigeria covering diverse areas of law such as employment, land, aviation, banking, electoral, loan recovery, and immigration. He represented a wide range of clients including corporate and governmental institutions.

He obtained his LLB and LLM degrees from Adekunle Ajasin University and Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, respectively.

Opeyemi joined MD Law Group in the fall of 2022, initially as a Legal Research Assistant, and later became an associate. A member of the Alberta bar, his areas of practice are employment and criminal law. In addition to law practice, Opeyemi loves creative writings, and he uses most of his writings to advocate for social justice.
